your first class

what happens in your first class

Arrive a little early

Come 5-10 minutes before your class starts so you’ve got time to get settled, meet your instructor, and ask any questions before you begin.

A full run-through of the reformer

Before any exercises start, your instructor will walk you through the machine itself, the springs, the straps, the carriage, so nothing feels unfamiliar once class begins.

Paced, guided movement

Every exercise is demonstrated and explained before you try it. There’s no pressure to move fast or get it “right” first time, this class is about learning, not performing.

Leave feeling like you've actually got it

By the end, you’ll understand the basics of reformer Pilates and feel ready to build on it, whether that’s coming back to beginner classes or progressing toward our general or pro sessions.

Feeling nervous?

“I’m not flexible/fit enough.” Neither are most people on their first class. Pilates builds flexibility and strength, you don’t need either before you start.

“I’ll hold everyone else back.” Classes are made up of people with different ability levels. There’s no pressure to keep up or worry about being watched, everyone is learning, improving and progressing together.

“I won’t know what any of the equipment does.” That’s why we ask you to arrive 5–10 minutes early, so the instructor can show you how to use the reformer and make sure you’re comfortable before the class begins.

Our qualifed instructors

Our classes are taught by our all-female team of fully qualified instructors, all of whom genuinely enjoy teaching first-timers. Men are just as welcome in class as women.

Do I need any experience to join a class?

No, none at all. Our classes are designed specifically for people who’ve never used a reformer before.

Comfortable, form-fitting activewear works best so your instructor can see your form, but wear whatever feels right for you. Grip socks are required on the reformer, if you don’t have any, you can buy a pair at the studio.

Not at all. Men are completely welcome in every class, including beginner sessions.
